Live & In Color marks its ninth season of developing new and inclusive works of art, with staged readings of a new musical in Salem this weekend.

The show is “We Start in Manhattan” by Ariella Serur and Sav Souza. According to Live & In Color, this musical “blends cheeky humor with sincerity and vulnerability, centering around the queer and gender-expansive experience.”

Live & in Color was founded by Artistic Director Devanand Janki, who started in the arts as a performer and, for the past 15 years, has been a director.

“We Start in Manhattan,” 3 p.m. Sat. and 2 p.m. Sun., Bingham Camp, 490 East Haddam Road, Salem; the show, which contains frequent adult language and openly explores sexual content, is recommended for ages 18+; free; seating is very limited, so reserve a seat at liveandincolor.org.
