The first week of January is always a slow time for entertainment, but hark! What hear we?

    Chanteys!

The annual Chantey Blast and Pub Sing takes place on Saturday at the Frohsinn Hall in Mystic.

The event raises money for the CT Sea Music Festival, which was held for the first time in 2022 in Essex. The organization was founded after the Mystic Seaport Museum canceled its long-running Sea Music Festival. The CT Sea Music Fest has picked up the mantel and has been attracting sea music fans to Essex for two years running. This year’s dates for the festival are June 7-10.

CT Sea Music Festival Chantey Blast Fundraiser, 1-5 p.m. Saturday, Frohsinn Hall (aka The German Club), 54 Greenmanville Ave., Mystic; $20 suggested donation at the door; snow date is Sunday.
