I figured that David Foster and Katharine McPhee’s concert would be a superb musical experience. After all, he is an iconic producer, composer and pianist, and she’s an esteemed singer.

But when I did a phone interview with them a few weeks ago, I realized their show would also bubble with sassy banter and interesting storytelling — because that’s what they were like, just being themselves, during the interview.

The duo will bring “An Intimate Evening with David Foster & Katharine McPhee” to the Garde Arts Center Thursday.

They’ll perform some of the songs that Foster co-wrote or produced that became hits for the likes of Whitney Houston, Josh Groban and Celine Dion, as well as numbers McPhee is associated with from her time on “American Idol,” “Smash” and “Waitress.”
