1640 psalm book could fetch $30M at NYC auction

New York (AP) — A tiny book of psalms from 1640 could sell for as much as $30 million at a New York auction.

The Bay Psalm Book is believed to be the first book ever printed in what is now the United States.

Sotheby's is offering it Tuesday evening. The presale estimate is $15 million to $30 million.

Only 11 copies of the Bay Psalm Book survive in varying degrees of completeness.

Boston's Old South Church is selling one of its two copies.

It could set an auction record for any printed book.

A copy of John James Audubon's "Birds of America" is the current record-holder. It sold for $11.5 million at Sotheby's in 2010.
