Police: 2 children found dead in gas-filled Connecticut home
East Haven — Police say two children have been found dead in a Connecticut home that was filled with natural gas.
East Haven officials said at a news conference Tuesday night that the children's mother was also found in the house with non-life-threatening injuries and was taken to a hospital.
Police said have not said how the children, ages 5 and 7 years old, died but say they are treating the deaths as suspicious.
They said the children had likely been dead inside the house for at least 24 hours.
Police say they believe the gas was deliberately turned on, but it's not clear if a leak or breakage could have been the cause.
Three police officers who responded to the house just before 3 p.m. were taken to a hospital as a precaution for gas exposure.
