Rain and wind could bring power outages

A rain storm sweeping through the region is expected to bring with it gusty winds and the possibility of power outages this evening, the National Weather Service warns.

There will be periods of rain today with the heavier rain and stronger winds reaching southeastern Connecticut later this evening. A statewide wind advisory is in effect through 7 a.m. on Thursday. Temperatures are also expected to drop from a high of 55 degrees today to a low of 28 degree tonight.

The National Weather Service said 15 to 25 miles-per-hour winds, with gusts up to 50 mph, are likely tonight along with the possibility of thunder storms.

Thursday will be mostly sunny and breezy with a high near 36 degrees.
