Jean Sarah Hughes, 70, of Niantic, formerly of Clinton, died peacefully on March 15. She was born in Guilford on Jan. 15, 1940, daughter of the late Nathaniel T. and Florence Hughes. She had lived in Clinton for many years and graduated from The Morgan School in Clinton and the Chandler School for Women in Boston, Massachusetts. Jean had worked for Bristol Saybrook and Cramer Controls. For the last 18 years, she had lived in Niantic.

Jean was devoted to all her nieces and nephews. She will be missed by her family and friends and will be remembered for her positive and happy outlook.

Her family thanks the staff at Bride Brook Health Care in Niantic for the loving care it gave her over the many years she lived there.

Jean is survived by her sister Florence Barbara Krawczyk of Providence, Rhode Island, her brother Nathaniel Hughes and his wife Fran of Clinton, her sister Ruth Adams and her husband Richard of Essex, and her twin sister Joan Graf and her husband Robert of Lake Shore, Florida.

Private graveside services were held at Beaver Brook Cemetery, Clinton. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made in her name to the Recreation Department at Bride Brook Health Care, 23 Liberty Way, Niantic, CT 06357. The Swan Funeral Home, Clinton, was in charge of arrangements.
