Frank Proto, 80, of Northford, died Sept. 9 at Yale-New Haven Hospital.  He was the husband of Rose Esposito Proto.  Born in New Haven on Feb. 3, 1930, he was the son of the late Cosmo and Venderina Aurora Proto.  Frank had worked as a plumber for Yale University for nearly 40 years until his retirement and was a proud member of Local No. 35.  He was also a devoted husband, father, and grandfather who enjoyed his annual trips to Florida, especially spending much quality time with his two grandchildren.  In addition, he had served his country faithfully in the U.S. Army.

 Besides his wife, he is survived by two sons, Robert Proto and his wife Robyn of East Haven and Frank Proto and his wife Ann of Madison; two grandchildren, Robert Proto, Jr. and Nicole Proto;  and a brother, John Proto and his wife Geraldine of North Haven. 

A mass of Christian burial was held on Sept. 13 at St. Barnabas Church, North Haven.  There were no visiting hours.  Burial was private.  In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Yale Pediatrics, 20 York St., New Haven, CT  06510. The North Haven Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
