Esther M. Castellano, 81, of 41 Bushnell Hollow Rd., Baltic, died at her home on Nov. 18, surrounded by her family.  She was born in Vega Baga, Puerto Rico, on May 6, 1929, daughter of the late Raphael and Felicita Negron Ayala. Esther had worked for Yale-New Haven Hospital as a Spanish interpreter for 40 years until her retirement in 2006.

She is survived by two sons and their wives, Pete and Josephine Ramos of Guilford and Elbert and Roxanne Castellano of Baltic; a daughter, Evelyn C. Vega of Wallingford; and two sisters, Aida Colon of New Haven and Elisa Magdziak of East Haven. She is also survived by four grandsons, eight great-grandchildren, three nieces, and two nephews.    

Burial was private. The East Haven Memorial Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
