Marguerite Stanley, 94, died on Dec. 23 at the Mystic Manor Nursing & Rehabilitation Center in Mystic. She was the beloved wife of the late Willard D. Stanley. She was born in Waterbury on Nov. 8, 1916, daughter of Salvatore and Carmella (DiLeone) D’Ambrisi. Mrs. Stanley was a longtime resident of Cheshire, Ivoryton, and Old Saybrook, and she greatly supported her late husband in so many ways in the beginning years of the former family business, W.D. Stanley Company, which was located in Waterbury. She was a member of the Ladies Auxiliary of the Cheshire Volunteer Fire Company No. 2 and also volunteered for many years at Waterbury Hospital.

Mrs. Stanley loved the outdoors and was an avid walker and boater. She and her husband also loved to travel and especially enjoyed their many winters spent in Florida. She leaves her family with a legacy of love and generosity.

Her family extends their heartfelt thanks to the staff at Mystic Manor and Nursing & Rehabilitation Center for their loving care and to Beacon Hospice for all of their support. She is survived by her son, S. Gregg Stanley and his wife Rosemarie of Thomaston; her daughter, Leda Stanley-Fidrych and her husband John of North Stonington; seven grandchildren, Tia Fidrych of New York, New York, Will Fidrych, of North Stonington, Lori Urbano and her husband Stephen of Wallingford, Jennifer Doty and her husband Mark of Wallingford, Lisa Eroh, and her husband Joe of Wallingford, Anthony Franceskino, and his wife Alice of Watertown, and Stewart Stanley, Jr. of Stamford; eight great-grandchildren; and four great-great-grandchildren. She is also survived by a sister, Julia Carroll of Waterbury; two sisters-in-law, Anne and Lorraine D’Ambrisi; many beloved nieces and nephews; and her special goddaughter, Roberta Connors. She was predeceased by four brothers, John, Ernest, Michael, and George D’Ambrisi; four sisters, Audrey D’Ambrisi, Charlotte Lauria, Marion Adkins, and Ann Garthwait; and five half -brothers and half-sisters.
