    Margaret Wood Hager, 96, Chester

    Margaret Wood Hager, 96, of Chester, died Jan. 12 at Middlesex Hospital in Middletown. She was the wife of the late Cyril Francis Hager.  She was born Dec. 18, 1914 in Marshfield, Wisconsin, the second daughter of the late Amanda (Witt) Wood and George S. Wood. Margaret received her BS degree from the University of Wisconsin and her MS in clothing and textiles from the Pennsylvania State University.  She taught costume history at Huntington College, Montgomery, Alabama, and later at Penn State.

    Margaret had been a Chester resident since 1996 and had previously resided in State College, Pennsylvania, and Montgomery, Alabama.  She was an avid reader, bird watcher, and a follower of the New York Yankees baseball team.  She also volunteered for many years at Penn State’s Shaver’s Creek Environmental Center in Petersburg, Pennsylvania.  

    She is survived by her son, Anthony W. Hager, and her granddaughter, Amanda D. Hager, both of Chester.  

    All services are private.  In lieu of flowers, donations in memory of Margaret and Cyril Hager may be made to Shaver’s Creek Environmental Center, Outreach Resource of Penn State, 3400 Discovery Rd., Petersburg, PA 16669. The Robinson, Wright & Weymer Funeral Home, Centerbrook, is in charge of arrangements.
