    Barbara A. Bakutis, 67, North Haven

    Barbara A. Verboski Bakutis, 67, of North Haven, formerly of Thompson St., East Haven, died peacefully at her home on May 13, surrounded by her loving family.  She was the wife of Charles R. Bakutis, Sr.  Barbara was born in New Haven on Dec. 7, 1944, daughter of the late Joseph Verboski, Sr. and Stella A. Bencusky Verboski.  Barbara had worked for Universal Wire and later as a self-employed housekeeper.  She had a great love for cats. 

    Besides her husband, she is survived by three sons, Charles R. Bakutis, Jr. of North Haven, William M. Bakutis and his wife Valerie Matteis of North Haven, and Brian J. Bakutis and his wife Tammy of New Haven. She is also survived by seven grandchildren, to whom she known as “Mimi:” Amanda, Billy, Nick, Blacey, Rachel, Morgan, and Krystal. In addition, she is survived by two nephews, Joseph Cheeseman of New York and William Orlando, Jr. and his wife Pauline of Old Saybrook. She was predeceased by two children, Robert and Stella Bakutis; her brother, Joseph Verboski, Jr.; and two sisters, Jeanette Orlando and Joan Cheeseman.www.northhavenfuneral.com.

    Her funeral procession will leave the North Haven Funeral Home, 36 Washington Ave., North Haven, on Wednesday, May 16, at 10:15 a.m.   A mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at Our Lady of Pompeii Church at 11 a.m., followed by burial in All Saints Cemetery.  Visiting hours will be Tuesday, May 15, from 5 to 8 p.m.  Should friends desire, memorial contributions may be made to the Connecticut Hospice, Inc., 110 Barnes Rd., Wallingford, CT  06492, or to the Greater New Haven Cat Projects (GNHCP), P.O.  Box 1432, New Haven, CT  06506.
