    Lisa K. “Oma” Zito, 90, East Haven

    Lisa K. “Oma” Zito, 90, of East Haven, died peacefully at the Masonicare Health Center of Wallingford on May 11.  She was the widow of Fred Zito. Lisa was born in Dusseldorf, Germany, on Aug. 21, 1921, daughter of the late Ewald and Anna Trabusch Kluppelholz. In 1928, she and her family immigrated to the United States. A resident of East Haven for 50 years, Lisa was very involved in her community. She was one of the founding members and past president (1977–1978) of the Momauguin Recreation League. She also served on the Planning and Zoning Board.

    Lisa had worked for SNET for many years, retiring in 1975. After retirement, she followed her passion for learning by returning to college to take a variety of courses. She loved reading, crossword puzzles, and her two cats, Molly and Polly. Later in her life, she went back to work at the CVS on Main Street in East Haven.

    Lisa’s family extends a heartfelt thank you to all the staff at Masonicare, especially those on 4 Wooster and 6 Ramage, for the compassionate care and love they gave her for the past two years. 

    Lisa is survived by six children, Diane and her husband Dr. William Carney of Avon, Bonnie Capasso, David Capasso and his fiancé Ann Mattie, Gary Zito and his wife Kelly, all of East Haven, Steven Capasso and wife Paula of Guilford, and Lisa Randi and her husband Richard of Woodbridge; a brother, Henry Kluppelholz of North Haven; 12 grandchildren, Jacquelyn and Gregory Campbell, Donald and Michael Oberempt, Shannon, Jason, Russell, Alexandra and Cameron Capasso, Alice Morman, and Zachary and Jakob Zito; six great-grandchildren, Jaime and Cameron Campbell, Christopher, Jonathan, and Madeline Oberempt, and Chancellor Capasso; five nieces, Linda and Lara Beise, Joanne Wilson, Shannon Fuqua, and Carla Rumskas; and three nephews, Brian and Mike Lee and Paul Mei. She was predeceased by two great-grandchildren, Ethan Oberempt and Lucianna Campbell, and two sisters, Anna Vischio and Julie Lee.

    Private services were held at the convenience of the family. Memorial contributions may be made to the Masonicare Charity Foundation of Connecticut, Quality of Life Fund, 22 Masonic Ave., Wallingford, CT 06492. The East Haven Memorial Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
