    Bertha DelGaudio, 92, Branford

Bertha DelGaudio, 92, of Branford, died on June 21 at the Connecticut Hospice, just shy of her 93rd birthday. She was the wife of the late John J. DelGaudio. Born Brunislava Vladislava Rynasiewicz, Bertha was born in Pawtucket, Rhode Island, daughter of the late Wojciech and Aniela Rynasiewicz. She attended the Rhode Island School of Design, where her lifelong creative talents began, and, in her early years, she worked for the Bell Telephone Company in Narragansett and Newport, Rhode Island.

In June of 1950, she married John J. DelGaudio, who continued to call her his bride throughout their loving life. They moved to Simsbury to raise their two daughters and often traveled to Cape Cod, where their romance blossomed and where the shared much fun and laughter with their special group of friends at the old “Blue Anchor.”

Bertha loved a good gin martini, tending to her gardens, pampering her dog, Penelope, and watching sports with her husband, especially the New York Yankees and the UConn basketball teams.

Bertha was a gentle and kind soul, had a fun sense of humor, and always a big smile. She will be truly missed by all those who were touched by her life.

She is survived by her daughter Diane Nesbitt of Simsbury; her daughter Bobbi Irving, her son-in-law Howard, and her cherished granddaughter Summer, all of Branford; her lifelong BFF, Frieda Dengal of Pawtucket; and many nieces, nephews, and friends. She was predeceased by her devoted older brothers who adored her, Leo, formerly of Pawtucket, Rhode Island, and Joe, formerly of Lyndhurst, Ohio.

Funeral services were private. Donations in her honor may be made to the Connecticut Hospice. The W.S. Clancy Memorial Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
