Nils L. Munson, 89, of Branford, died July 9 at the Connecticut Hospice. He was the husband of the late Barbara Hall Munson. Mr. Munson was born in New Haven on Aug. 3, 1922, son of the late Arvid and Hannah Nelson Munson. He was a World War II veteran, serving in the U. S. Army Air Corps in the Pacific Theater. After the war, he went to work for Winchester’s where he retired as a supervisor after 40 years of employment. 

Mr. Munson was a member of the Branford Elks Club, BPOE 1939, and the Owenego Beach and Tennis Club in Branford.  He was also an avid bowler and tennis player.  He was much loved and will be missed by his many friends. 

He is survived by a son, Christopher Munson and his wife Luanne of Branford; a daughter, Lisa Munson Thomas and her husband Nicholas of Branford; four grandchildren, Christopher Munson, Jr., Julianne Munson, and Stephanie Rae and W. Nicholas Thomas.  He is also survived by his longtime companion, Marion Gilhuly of Branford.  He was predeceased by his brother, Eric Munson.

Friends may call on Wednesday, July 11, from 5 to 8 p.m., at the W.S. Clancy Memorial Funeral Home, 244 North Main St., Branford, and are invited to a funeral service on Thursday, July 12, at 10 a.m., at the funeral home.  Burial will follow in Center Cemetery, Branford.  In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Connecticut Hospice, 100 Double Beach Rd., Branford, CT 06405.  For directions and online memorial see www.wsclancy.com.
