    Anna M. Savastano, 94, Branford, formerly of Hamden

    Anna M. Savastano, 94, of Branford, formerly of Hamden, died peacefully on Aug. 18. Anna was born in New Haven on Aug. 9, 1918, daughter of the late Joseph and Carmela (DeAngelo) Savastano.  She was a graduate of Hamden High School and had been employed by the former Olin Corporation (Winchester) as an executive secretary for several years prior to her retirement in 1976. She had lived in Hamden most of her life before moving to The Hearth at Gardenside in Branford two years ago. www.washingtonmemorialfh.com

    Anna is survived by her loving sister, Helen Savastano, also a resident at The Hearth at Gardenside in Branford, and her niece, Marilyn Barone Tarducci and her husband Lawrence and their sons, Matthew and Christian Tarducci, all of Branford. She is also survived by her nephews, Vincent Aprea; Frank Aprea and his wife Carole and their son Frank Aprea and his wife Sonia and their sons, Matthew and Justin Aprea, all of Hamden; Joseph Savastano and his wife Carol and their son Joseph Savastano; and James Savastano and his son Jay Savastano. In addition, she is survived by her niece, Beverly Savastano. Anna was predeceased by her brother, Dominic Savastano; four sisters, Jennie Aprea, Angelina Barone, Josephine Savastano, and Olympia Savastano; and two nieces, Josephine Aprea and Carmela Aprea.

    Her funeral procession left the Torello-Iacobucci Washington Memorial Funeral Home, North Haven, on Aug. 21 for a mass of Christian burial, which was celebrated at 11 a.m. at St. Ann Church, Hamden.
