    Lillian C. Allen, 96, Clinton

    Lillian C. Allen, 96, of Clinton, died peacefully at her home on Aug. 18.  Lillian was born in Hartford on Sept. 21, 1915, daughter of the late George and Lillian Perkins Wall Frisk. She grew up in Hartford, graduating in 1933 from Bulkeley High School, and worked at G. Fox and Company Department Store for several years before becoming an executive secretary at the Aetna Insurance Company in Hartford. In 1973, she moved to Clinton and continued to commute to Hartford until she retired.     Lillian was a member of the Ladies Auxiliary at the Clinton Fire Department. She also served as treasurer of the Clinton Beach Association and worked at the Shoreline Soup Kitchen Food Bank, which was established while her son was Rector of the Church of the Holy Advent.  Lillian was an avid reader, loved her times at the beach, faithfully watched the BBC, and enjoyed her dogs.  The community of Clinton has lost a good friend and contributor.

    Lillian is survived by her son, The Rev. Russell H. Allen and his wife Louisa of Harwich, Massachusetts, and her daughter, Carol Judith Watkins and her husband David of Winter Haven, Florida, and Turner, Maine.  She is also survived by her grandchildren, Dr. Erica S. Gelven and her husband Marc of Clinton, Joshua W. Allen and his wife Rebecca of Milton, Massachusetts, Suzann Vernali of Andover, Connecticut, Pamela Rosch and her husband Robert of Clinton, Raymond Williams of Turner, Maine, and David Williams of Enfield, Connecticut. In addition, she is survived by her daughter-in-law, Sandra Allen of Clinton, her step-granddaughter, Debbie Miller of Clinton; and several great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by her son, Chief Hugh D. Allen of the Clinton Fire Department; her grandson Mark Williams; her granddaughter Dianne Zielinski; her step-grandson Jeffrey Miller; and her great-granddaughter Rachel Williams. 

    Memorial services will be announced at at later date.  Memorial gifts may be directed to the Shoreline Soup Kitchen Food Bank or to the Clinton Volunteer Fire Department. The Swan Funeral Home, Clinton, is in charge of arrangements.  Please visit
