Susan P. Carton-Petrelli, 48, of Village Victoria, Guilford, died Oct. 4 at the Connecticut Hospice in Branford. She was the beloved wife of James J. Petrelli, MD and the loving mother of James C. Petrelli of Guilford.  Susan was born in New Haven, on April 14, 1964, daughter of Patricia Carton Nelson of Stratford and the late Raymond Carton. She was also the step-daughter of Richard Nelson. Susan graduated from Laurelton Hall and went on to receive her RNBS from the University of Bridgeport. She received her master’s degree/APRN from Sacred Heart University and most recently a mid-wife degree from Columbia University. She worked for Milford Hospital in Labor and Delivery.

Susan was an avid runner and even competed in this past Labor Day 5k Race. She also loved skiing and knitting.

Besides her husband, son, mother, and step-father, she is survived by her brother, Raymond Carton, and her sister, Dr. Kerry Milner and her husband Peter Milner, all of Stratford. In addition, she is survived by a niece and two nephews, Erin, Peter, and Patrick Milner. She was predeceased by her sister, Kristen Carton.
