    Michael B. FitzGerald, 72, Westbrook, formerly of Clinton and Branford

    Michael B. FitzGerald, 72, of Westbrook, formerly of Clinton and Branford, died on Nov. 13 at Hartford Hospital. He was the loving husband of 43 years to Marilyn FitzGerald. Michael was born on July 31, 1940, son of the late Thomas and Kathryn FitzGerald. He attended schools in Branford and graduated from Boston University with a bachelor’s degree in business. Prior to his retirement he enjoyed working at General Dynamics, Sikorsky Aircraft Inc. and the Purdy-Timkin Corporation.

    Thomas was a loving husband, father, and grandfather. He is best remembered for his devotion to his family, his love of life, his generosity, strong moral values, and his infectious laugh. He will be greatly missed by his family, friends, and former colleagues.

    Besides his beloved wife, he is survived by his daughter Meghan and son-in-law Steve, whom he loved like the son he never had. He is also survived by his five grandchildren, Brandon, Kayla, Jessica, Abriella, and Steven, Jr.; his sister Brenna Reardon; his sister-in-law Lois Gurnham and her husband Brian; and two brothers-in-law, Jacques Juneau and Frank Shaknaitis. He will be missed by his nieces, nephew, many other family members, and his friends.

    Calling hours will be held on Sunday Nov. 18, from 4 to 7 p.m., at the Swan Funeral Home 1224 Boston Post Rd., Old Saybrook. A mass of Christian burial will be held on Monday, Nov. 19, at 10:30 a.m., at St. Mark the Evangelist Church in Westbrook, followed by burial in the State of Connecticut Veterans Cemetery in Middletown.
