Mary Jane Watrous, 88, of Sebring, Florida, formerly of Chester, died with her family by her side on Nov. 17.  She was born in Nanticoke, Pennsylvania, on June 18, 1924, daughter of the late Benjamin F. and Ednamae (McEntee) Fleitz. She moved from Chester to Sebring, Florida in 1986, and had been a resident of Sebring since 1986. 

Mrs. Watrous was a teacher and taught Junior High for one year and High School Business Education at Valley Regional High School in Deep River for 25 years.  She was also a member of the Emmanuel United Church of Christ in Sebring, Florida, and was a former member of the United Church of Christ in Chester. 

She is survived by her son, Bruce H. Watrous and his wife Beverly of Chester; her daughter, Betsy Pasinella and her husband Al of Saratoga Springs, New York; and eight grandchildren, Curtis and Kim Smith of Trumbull, B.J. and Cory Watrous of Menlo Park, California, Jason and Sarah H. Smith of Scituate Harbor, Massachusetts, and Christopher and Kelly Watrous of Middleton, Massachusetts. In addition, she is survived by eight great-grandchildren.

Memorial donations may be made in her memory to the Watrous Family Campership Fund, Camp Hazen YMCA, 204 West Main St., Chester, CT 06412, or to the local Hospice of the donor’s choice.  The Stephenson-Nelson Funeral Home, Sebring, Florida, was in charge of arrangements.
