    Bernice A. Ramsey, 92, Madison

Bernice A. Ramsey, 92, a longtime resident of Madison, died peacefully on March 23. She was the wife of 60 years to the late Richard Ramsey. Mrs. Ramsey was born in Brookville, Pennsylvania, and graduated from Westminster College. She worked briefly as a school teacher until her marriage to Richard in 1943 and was a homemaker for the rest of her life.

She and Richard, an early Pan Am pilot and wire rope engineer, traveled extensively throughout the world and were enthusiastic hikers, canoeists, and cyclists. Mrs. Ramsey was also a dedicated volunteer craft-maker and donated generously to her church and many local and world-wide charities.

Bernie, as she was fondly known, could light up any room with her warm smile and encouraging words. Although childless, she leaves a legion of friends of all ages and her husband's three nephews, Doug, Don, and Dick of Connecticut.

The family extends many thanks to The Hearth in Madison and The Guilford House in Guilford for the outstanding and loving care they gave to her.

Besides her friends and her husband's three nephews, Mrs. Ramsey is survived by her sister Marylu Fielder, her nephew Allen, and her cousin Doris Snedden.

A memorial service celebrating her life will be held at the Westbrook Congregational Church on Saturday, May 4, at 11 a.m. She will be buried beside her husband in the memorial garden at the First Congregational Church of Madison. In lieu of flowers, donations in her name may be made to the Westbrook Congregational Church and the Salvation Army. The Swan Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
