Richard H. Scully, 78, of East Haven died on June 1 after a long illness in Yale-New Haven Hospital St. Raphael Campus. Born in Worcester, Massachusetts on June 3, 1934, Richard was a son of the late R. Harold and Ruth Larkin Scully. He was the beloved husband of 52 years to Kathleen Walsh Scully, the loving father of Tracey Scully of East Haven and Kellyanne Scully of North Branford, and a brother of the late Joan Scully and Ruth Freshour. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews.

Prior to his retirement Richard was a sprinkler fitter and retired from Local 669, and also a member of the United States Navy.  Richard was an active member of the Indian Neck Yacht Club of Branford and the Hamden Fish and Game Club. He was an avid lobster man, fisherman, and hunter. When not found in his workshop doing fine woodworking, he could be found rooting for the Boston Red Sox.

His funeral procession will leave the Porto Funeral Home, 234 Foxon Road, East Haven, on Thursday at 10:30 a.m. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 11 a.m. in Our Lady of Pompeii Church.
