Robert (Bob, Smitty) Smith, 66, of Guilford, died peacefully July 29. He was born in 1946 in West Hartford to the late James and Lois Smith.

In 1964 Bob graduated from Conard High School in West Hartford, and in 1969 he graduated from The University of Tampa, and went on to work as a pharmaceutical representative for Roche Pharmaceuticals.

Bob was actively involved in coaching youth basketball and softball in Guilford for many years, and also played in the adult men's basketball league. He was an avid golfer, and a passionate Red Sox baseball and UConn basketball fan.

He is survived by his children Tracy Leahy of Durham, Karen Seltenreich of Trumbull, and Kristin Hutchins of Clinton; his two sisters Debra Greenwood and Patricia Sanzo; and his brother Bradford. He is also survived by six grandchildren Ryan, Kaitlyn, Samuel, Daniel, Lily and Grace.
