John Francis Berry, of Madison, husband of 43 years to the late Nancy Berry, and son of Peter and Anna Berry, died Sept. 5 at his summer home in Madison.

He was a loving father and husband, accomplished journalist, editor and author, and lifelong jazz enthusiast. His adventurous spirit, curiosity and kind nature will be missed and celebrated by all who knew him.

He is survived by his children Annette and Sean; his daughter-in-law Erin Berry; his son-in-law Daniel Miller; and his two grandchildren, Piper Bee Miller and John Berry, III. A funeral was held Sept. 6 at St. Margaret Church, Madison. The Swan Funeral Home, Clinton, was in charge of arrangements.
