Eleanor Clinchy Reinhardsen, 91, formerly of Guilford, wife of the late Daniel Reinhardsen, Jr., died Sept. 18 at the Apple Rehabilitation Center in Old Saybrook. She was born Feb. 19, 1922 in Denver, Colorado to the late Everett and Winifred Mead Clinchy. Eleanor graduated from George School in Newtown, Pennsylvania and attended Guilford College in Greensboro, North Carolina.

The Reinhardsens resided in Guilford for many years, where Dan served as First Selectman for two terms. Eleanor and Dan were among the founding members of SARAH, Inc., a local organization dedicated to the care of people with special needs.

Eleanor is survived by her daughter Katharine Bishop of Westbrook; her sons David Reinhardsen of Nyack, New York and Steven Reinhardsen of Guilford; six grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by Garlord “Albie” Albertson, for whom Dan and Eleanor were caring guardians.

A private memorial service will be held at a later date. Burial will take place in Fairmont Presbyterian Cemetery in Califon, New Jersey.  Contributions in memory of Eleanor Reinhardsen may be made to the SARAH Foundation, 246 Goose Lane, Suite #104, Guilford, CT 06437.
