Alva "Sue" Dykes Hawkins, 96, of East Haven, formerly of Guilford and Westbrook, died Sept. 24 in Yale-New Haven Hospital. She was born Feb. 3, 1917 in East Haven to the late Samuel and Evalina Fox Dykes.

She is survived by her children Kenneth Hawkins of East Haven, Richard Hawkins of Leecanto, Florida and Alva Lamson of Newport, Maine; five grandchildren; 7 great-grandchildren; and five great-great- grandchildren. She was predeceased by her daughter Ethel Hawkins; her sister Stella Haeshe; and her brother Edward Dykes.

Funeral services will be held Monday, Sept. 30 at 10 a.m. at the Guilford Funeral Home, 115 Church St, Guilford, followed by burial in Nut Plains Cemetery, Guilford.
