Elizabeth “Betty” Alex, 83, of North Branford, died Sept. 23 after a long illness. She was born Dec. 26, 1929 in New Haven to the late Raymond and Jane (Reynolds) Cooper.

The family would like to thank Twin Maples Health Care in Durham for their kind and compassionate care of Betty, especially Charlotte Allen, whose devotion and care will be in their hearts forever

She is survived by her loving and devoted husband of 62 years, John Alex; her beloved daughter Betty Celone and her husband Steven of North Branford; three sons, Robert, Thomas and Mark Alex; her granddaughter Alicia Celone of North Branford; four more grandchildren; her brother Charles Cooper and his wife Florence of New Hampshire; her sister Jane Dippold of Wallingford; and numerous nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her parents; her brother Thomas Cooper; and her sister Marion Dippold.

Family will receive friends Friday, Sept. 27 from 9 a.m.-10:30 a.m. at the Clancy Funeral Home, 43 Kirkham Ave., East Haven, followed by service at 10:30 a.m. and burial in All Saints Cemetery, North Haven. In lieu of flowers, please make donations to the Alzheimer’s Association CT Chapter, 2075 Silas Deane Highway, Rocky Hill, CT  06067 in memory of Betty Alex. The Clancy Funeral Home, East Haven, is in charge of arrangements.
