Frederic Cunningham Sargent, 49, of New Haven, died unexpectedly Oct. 1. He was born Oct. 24, 1963 in New York City to John Moffat and the late Janet Hutton Sargent. He moved with his family to New Haven during the summer of 1967. He was devoted to his parents, and provided care for his mother until her death in 2008 and has cared for his father since.

He was a great host and cook and loved to show off his culinary talents. From the time attended Edgewood School, Fred found ways to get the attention of teachers, classmates and friends with his witty sense of humor and charm. He graduated in from New Hampton School in 1982.

He is survived by his father John Sargent Sr.; his siblings John Sargent, Jr., and his wife Barbara of Northford, Mindwell Egeland and her husband Jeff of Iowa City, Iowa, David Sargent and his wife Heidi of Northford, and Malcome Sargent and his wife Sara of Henrico,Virginia; nieces and nephews Austin and Savannah Sargent, and Anna and Robert Egeland; and his dear friend Sharon Lawless.
