    John Michael Ferrie, 50, North Haven

    John Michael Ferrie, 50, of North Haven, formerly of West Haven, beloved husband of 23 years to Sandra Lauria Ferrie, died suddenly Oct. 7 at Yale-New Haven Hospital. John was born Dec. 16, 1962 in New Haven to the late Vincent A. and Anastasia Cassella Ferrie, Sr. He resided in West Haven for most of his life before moving to North Haven 17 years ago. John was a 1980 graduate of West Haven High School, where he played baseball. He also played CYO basketball for St. John Vianney Church.

    John owned and operated Ferrie Asphalt Paving Company of West Haven for the past 15 years, and had previously worked in the family paving business for an additional 20 years.

    John is survived by his son Michael V. Ferrie of North Haven; three sisters, Virginia Vinyard of Chicago, Illinois, Elizabeth and her husband Phillip DePalma of Milford, and Diane Yeager of Westminster, Maryland; three brothers, Benjamin and his wife Carmelina Ferrie of Woodbridge,Vincent A. Ferrie, Jr., of West Haven, and David Ferrie of West Haven; parents in-law Jimmy and Nancy Ierardi of Middletown; brother-in-law Michael Lauria of Coventry; two beloved nieces, Brianna and Michaela Lauria of Wallingford; and many more aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews.

    John’s family will receive relatives and friends Thursday, Oct. 10 from 4 - 8 p.m. at the Washington Memorial Funeral Home, 4 Washington Ave., North Haven. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated Friday, Oct. 11 at 11 a.m. at St. John Vianney Church, 300 Captain Thomas Blvd., West Haven, followed by burial in Oak Grove Cemetery, West Haven.
