Charles C. Carlies, Jr., 85, of East Haven, cherished husband of Helen M. Carlis, died Sept. 19. He was born March 22, 1928 in New Haven to the late Charles Sr. and Sophie Deliello Carlis. He served with the United States Marine Corps and worked as a vending machine mechanic for Coca-Cola.

He was predeceased by three brothers, Anthony, Salvatore, and Alphonse Carlis; three sisters, Rose Murratti, Nancy Cassan and Mary Salvati; 14 nieces; 12 nephews; and his precious dog, Cheri.

A funeral mass was celebrated in St. Basil Greek Orthodox Church, New Haven. Interment with military honors was in the Carlis family plot in East Lawn Cemetery, East Haven. Colonial Funerals, Hamden, was in charge of arrangements.
