    Stefania (Kszczanowicz) Kabelis, 93, Westbrook

    Stefania (Kszczanowicz) Kabelis, 93, of Westbrook, died peacefully Oct. 10 at her home. She was born Sept. 12, 1920 in Halinowo, Poland, present-day Lithuania, to the late Jozef and Anna Glukowska Kszczanowicz. In 1945, the family moved to Gdansk, Poland, where Stefania lived and worked until immigrating to the United States in 2004. She established her permanent residence in Westbrook.

    She was a caring and loving mother, and a devoted Catholic who held high her Polish culture and heritage. She centered her life around her family and church, and was admired by all for her excellent preparation of Polish food and delicacies.

    She is survived by her son Dionizy Michael Kabelis, D.V.M; two adoring grandchildren, Daniella Marie Steward of Oakdale and Dennis Michael Kabelis of Brooklyn, New York; one brother, Henryk Kszczanowicz of Lithuania; and several nieces and nephews.

    A Mass of Christian burial was held Oct. 14 at St. Michael the Archangel Church, Bridgeport, followed by interment in St. John’s Cemetery, Monroe.
