John L. Carney, 67, of North Haven, husband of Kim Powers Carney, died Dec. 10 at his home. John was born June 13, 1946 in New Haven to the late Leonard and Mary Sweeney Carney. He served his country faithfully in the United States Navy during the Vietnam era, and received the Bronze Star.

He earned an associate degree from the former Quinnipiac College, and worked for SNET Company for 37 years before retiring. He was a member of the Telephone Pioneers of America.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by his son Joshua Carney and his wife Lillian; daughter Megan Carney; granddaughter Shayla Carney; and his brother Edward Carney and his wife Elizabeth. He was predeceased by his brother William R. Carney.

Family and friends may call Saturday, Dec. 14 from 2-5 p.m. at the North Haven Funeral Home, 36 Washington Avenue. Interment will be private and at the convenience of the family.
