Ida B. Mitchell, 93, of Deep River, beloved wife of the late Robert D. Mitchell, Jr., died peacefully Dec. 13 at home with her family by her side. Ida was a proud veteran of the United States Marines and served in World War II. She was a voracious reader and will be remembered as being “the Captain of her own ship.”

She is survived by her sons James T. Flynn and his wife Diane of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania and Robert D. Mitchell III and his wife Anna of Norfolk, Virginia; daughter Susan J. Murray and her husband Mike of Ivoryton; five grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by her sister Henrietta Kendall. 

Funeral services will be held Thursday, Dec. 19 at 1 p.m. at the chapel at Gracelawn Memorial Park Cemetery in New Castle, Delaware.
