    Adele (Figlewski) Grillo, 95, East Haven

    Adele (Figlewski) Grillo, 95, of East Haven, wife of the late Vito A. Grillo, died peacefully Dec. 23 in Milford. She was born Oct. 21, 1918 in New Haven to the late Stanley and Sophia Figlewski. Adele was head bookkeeper at Elm City Oil Company for many years, and was employed at New Haven Comfort in East Haven and then Cintas in Branford until her retirement in 2004. She was a devoted daughter, wife, mother, and friend.

    Adele’s family extends a special thank you to the staff at Golden Hill Health Care Center, first floor, for their compassionate care during the last two years.

    Adele is survived by her loving daughter Angela Grillo of East Haven and her companion David Sura of Milford; grandson Ian Reid of East Haven; granddaughters Adrienne Reid of New York and Rachel Reid and her fiancé Matthew Whitbread of New Haven; and many nieces, nephews, and friends, especially nieces Aimee Dymarczyk of East Haven and Joy Fair of North Branford. She was predeceased by her siblings George Malinowski, Henry Figlewski, Edward “Eddie” Figlewski, Stanley Figlewski, Jean Desrosier, Raymond Figlewski, and Irene Perry; nephews Frank Zabski, Paul Desrosier, and Omer Desrosier; and niece Shirley DeSena.

    Family will receive friends Thursday, Dec. 26 from 4 -7 p.m. at Clancy Funeral Home, 43 Kirkham Ave., East Haven. Her funeral procession will leave Clancy Funeral Home on Friday, Dec. 27 at 9:45 a.m. for a 10 a.m. Mass of Christian burial at St. Clare Church, 234 Coe Ave, East Haven. Committal will follow in All Saints Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations made to the American Cancer Society in memory of Adele Grillo are appreciated.
