Christopher J. Herrle, 30, Philadelphia, Pennsylvania

Christopher J. Herrle, age 30, of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, passed away Jan. 29 at his home.

Chris attended Drexel University in Philadelphia where he studied computer programming. He worked as a software tester for several companies in the Philadelphia area and was very good at his job.

At heart, however, Chris was an artist. He had worked as an apprentice glass blower for a while and loved the time he spent working with glass. He had a beautiful singing voice and performed as often as his schedule would allow at karaoke nights in Philly. He was an actor and had appeared in several productions while in college and in community theatre in the years following. He was a guitarist and bass player and composed many original songs. He loved his family and was truly a wonderful son and brother. He will be sorely missed.

Chris leaves his parents Kenneth P. and Martha (Porter) Herrle of Old Saybrook; his sisters Grace E. Herrle of Washington D.C., Elizabeth L. Herrle of Portland, Maine, Helen K. Herrle of Westbrook, and Katherine E. Herrle and Claire A. Herrle, both of Old Saybrook; his brothers David J. Herrle and Joel K. Herrle, both of Westbrook; paternal grandparents Jack N. and Eileen Herrle of Wallingford; and his maternal grandmother Anne R. Porter of Gaithersburg, Maryland.

Visitation was held Feb. 3 at Robinson, Wright, & Weymer Funeral Home in Centerbrook. Funeral services and interment in Riverside Cemetery, Old Saybrook, will be privately held by Chris’s family.
