    Beverly P. Morris, 79

    Deep River

Beverly P. Morris, age 79, a life-long resident of Deep River, passed away on March 27 at Yale-New Haven Hospital in New Haven. She was the beloved wife of the late William K. Morris. Beverly was born in Deep River on October 14, 1934, the daughter of Charles and Gertrude (Anderson) Pitts. She was born with a birth defect and almost left her family shortly after she entered this world, but somehow she persevered and survived with the grace of God and the love of her parents and eight siblings.

Beverly was a member of the class of 1952, the first to graduate from Valley Regional High School in Deep River. Bev worked at the L.C. Doane Co. and was also a nurses aide at both Gladeview Healthcare in Old Saybrook and Aaron Manor Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Chester, but her last and favorite job was being a nanny and grandmother. She was a member of the First Congregational Church of Deep River; a past member of the Deep River Fire Department Women’s Auxiliary, and was the Treasurer of Kirtland Commons, where she resided. Beverly loved collecting dolls, family vacations on Cape Cod, and all kinds of music. She would sit at the piano for hours and just play whatever came to mind.

Beverly is survived by her daughter, Lisa R. Bibbiani and her husband Stephen, and their daughters Taylor and Hayley; son Kevin S. Rankin of Chester and his daughter Emily; and son Donald E. Rankin, Jr., his wife Kathleen of Ivoryton, and their children Brian and Brooke. She also leaves her sisters, Helen Rankin, of Lyme, Ruth Woodcock, of Deep River; her sister-in-law, Fran Pitts, of Clinton; her step-children Susan M. Kummer, of Wallingford, William Morris, of Deep River, and Stephen Morris of Chester; brother-in-laws Bob Morris and his wife Diana of Newbury, New Hampshire, Charles Curt Morris and his wife Jean of Canaan, New York, and her beloved dog Gabby.

Besides her beloved husband Bill, who predeceased her on June 21, 2012, she was also predeceased by her brothers, Jack, Charlie, Bob, and Bill, and sisters, Nancy Ann Pitts and Elizabeth Calamari.

A celebration of her life and her love of music will be held at 2:00 p.m. on April 1 at the First Congregational Church of Deep River, Church Street, in Deep River. Interment will follow in the Fountain Hill Cemetery in Deep River. Memorial contributions may be made in Beverly’s name to the First Congregational Church of Deep River, P.O. Box 246, Deep River, CT 06417. The Robinson, Wright & Weymer Funeral Home, 34 Main Street, Centerbrook, CT 06409, was in charge of arrangements.
