    Worcester, Mass. - Jevon James scored 14 points and seven rebounds and Greg Marshall added 14 off the bench as Coast Guard Academy snapped a five-game losing streak with a 61-46 win over Clark University in the New England Women's and Men's Athletic Conference men's basketball opener on Wednesday.

    Adam Radtke added nine points and Trip Fernandes and Brett Huntley scored seven apiece for the Bears (4-6, 1-0). Clark is 8-5, 0-1.

    In other games:

    • Tre Bowman led five players in double figures with 19 points and St. Thomas More stayed unbeaten with a 96-62 win over Naval Prep. Andre Drummond scored 14 points, Andrew Douby and Trahson Burrell 12 apiece and Matt Conway added 10 for the Chancellors (11-0).

    Women's basketball

    • WPI jumped out to a 14-2 lead and never trailed in its 50-39 win over Coast Guard Academy in the NEWMAC. Melissa Martinelli led the Bears (3-4, 2-2) with 15 points, while Jessica Anderson added 10. WPI is 8-4, 4-1.

    Women's hockey

    • Ariel DiPasquale scored a pair of goals and Celia Medeiros added one as Connecticut College defeated Nichols, 3-0. The Camels are 2-7-1; Nichols fell to 1-8-1.

    H.S. wrestling

    • Seven wrestlers won by pinfall for Waterford in its 54-17 win over Norwich Free Academy in the Eastern Connecticut Conference Large Division.

    Joelle Nieves (103), Colin O'Brien (112), Tom Millaras (125), Clancy Emanuel (135), John Millaras (160), Shane Battista (189) and Brennan White (Hwt.) each won by pinfall to lead Waterford (3-1, 2-1). Christian Hammon (130) won by technical fall and Aaron Fabian (152) won by pin for NFA (1-2, 1-1).

    • Eddie Lorah (130), Josh Ross (135), Jake Kelleher (140), Alex Cusano (152) and Vinny Cancelmo (Hwt.) each won by pin and East Lyme got a major decision from Casey Johnson (125) en route to a 52-30 win over Fitch in the ECC Large. James Cooke (171), Tyler Duplin (189), Kendal Torr-Brown (215) and Cameron Gonzalez (152) won by pin for Fitch (1-7, 0-3). The Vikings improved to 2-5, 1-1.

    • Brandon Walsh (135) won by technical fall and Nick Boots (145) won by major decision in Griswold's 46-37 loss to Windham in the ECC Small Division. Brandon McNeil (140) and Aaron Wing (171) each won by pinfall for the Wolverines (4-4, 2-1).

    Boys' basketball

    • Robert Johnson scored a game-high 20 points in Montville's 67-56 non-league loss to Bolton. J.P. Morales and Tyler Girard-Floyd scored nine points apiece for the Indians (1-5). Bolton is 3-4.

    • Terrell Williams made five 3-pointers and finished with 23 points to lead St. Thomas More to a 77-56 win over Winchendon. Jelini Giddings added 20 points, Da'Quan Grant scored 11 and Lake Spears had 10 for the Chancellors (5-1).

    • Jake Goldberg had 16 points, nine rebounds and five assists in Williams' 49-42 loss to Westwood Christian. Sam Pieniadz added 13 points and seven rebounds for the Blues (1-5). Westwood Christian is 2-4.

    Girls' basketball

    • Capri DeBiccari scored a team-high 13 points in Williams' 67-31 loss to Lincoln (R.I.). Marissa Peck added six points for the Blues (1-2). Lincoln is 8-1.

    H.S. hockey

    • James Stowe scored 44 seconds into the game and St. Bernard/Bacon Academy defeated Housatonic/Northwest Regional, 4-1, in a non-league game. Jerry Theiler had a goal and two assists for the Saints (3-1), while Stowe and Kenny Brooks each had a goal and an assist. Housatonic is 3-2.

    Davis to be honored

    • Rajai Davis, who became the Oakland Athletics' starting center fielder in 2009, will be honored at the Connecticut American Legion Baseball's Ninth Annual Hot Stove Dinner on Friday, Jan. 15 at the Aqua Turf Club in Southington.

    Davis, who played for New London American Legion, will be honored as the Connecticut American Legion Alumnus/Major League Player of the Year. In addition, Niantic's David Chiasson will receive the Umpire Award.
