    Mitchell baseball rallies in NECC

    Nashua, N.H. — Mitchell College rallied from a 6-2 deficit to beat Daniel Webster College 15-6 Monday in a game between the top two baseball teams in the New England Collegiate Conference.

    Andy Langlais of Ledyard pitched a complete game and drove in four runs for the Mariners (11-9, 6-3) who moved into a tie for first place with Daniel Webster (13-11, 6-3).

    Mitchell broke the game open with seven runs in the eighth inning. Tommy Derosier went 4-for-5 with an RBI and Ethan Graynor had two hits and three RBI.

    In other baseball games:

    • Kyle Cummings hit a two-run double during a three-run sixth inning as UConn-Avery Point defeated Dean 3-1 to complete a doubleheader sweep. The Pointers defeated Dean 6-2 in the opener. Brett Shulick struck out five and allowed just three hits in a complete-game effort to earn the win in the second game. Cummings and Chris Davidson had two hits and two RBI apiece in the opener for the Pointers (21-7).

    College softball

    • Mitchell College swept a NECC doubleheader from Daniel Webster College, 9-0 and 17-3. Kristina Torres of Groton and Marissa Thomas of New London each pitched a complete game to earn a win for the Mariners (16-8, 8-0).

    Torres allowed just one hit while striking out 10 and walking one in game one. Thomas allowed three runs on seven hits, striking out six and walking one in game two.

    College lacrosse

    • Sixth-ranked Connecticut College remained unbeaten, defeating Wheaton College 15-4 in nonconference play. Junior Mark Mangano had two goals and an assist and Mike Giambanco and Andrew Berry each had two goals for the Camels (13-0).

    Boys' lacrosse

    • East Lyme scored the first 13 goals of the game and went on to defeat Waterford 14-1 in the Eastern Connecticut Conference Large Division. Bryan Swenson, Andrew Somps and Colin Hecklinger scored three goals apiece for East Lyme (4-2, 3-0). Waterford is 1-3, 0-2.

    • Terrell Williams scored three goals and St. Thomas More won its first game of the year, 8-6 over Cheshire Academy. Dan Kenny scored twice for St. Thomas More (1-3).

    • Wesley Duncan had four goals and three assists, leading Williams School past Marianapolis 10-2. Nate Roy made 19 saves and Gabe Campbell had two goals for the Blues (3-1).

    Boys' tennis

    • Sean McCaffery, Scott Hallamore and John Bavasso each won singles matches and Stonington swept doubles play en route to a 6-1 win over Woodstock Academy. Stonington is 2-0.

    • Dana Aing, Frank Zhang and Roman Shapiro each won singles matches as Waterford defeated Griswold 6-1. Brandon Roode won at No. 1 singles for Griswold (0-3). Waterford is 3-2.

    • Zack Bussiere, Joe LeCourt and Jake Gagnon each won singles matches to help Bacon Academy defeat Windham 5-2 in the ECC Medium division. Bacon is 3-1, 2-0.
