    Shoreline

    Results for Shoreline Gymnastics at the various state meets held recently:

    Level 9 (March 21, Southbury) — Katie Frese of Essex placed second on vault (9.40) and balance beam (8.65) and placed third all-around, qualifying for the Level 9 regional meet in Massachusetts. Megan McNeil of Pawcatuck placed third on floor (8.825) and scored 33.675 all-around.

    Frese also competed in the Region 6 competition on April 11. She won vault (9.375) and placed third in the all-around (35.40), qualifying for the Jr. Olympic Eastern Championships to be held April 29-May 2 in Charleston, W.Va.

    Level 8 (March 28, West Hartford) — Samantha Lemire of Moodus scored 34.950 all-around and qualified for the Level 8 regional meet to be held April 28 in Massachusets. She was followed by Julianna Alvord of Ivoryton, 34.075 and Olivia Shropshire of Westbrook, 32.850.

    Level 7 (March 27, West Hartford) — Katie Seegert of Old Saybrook led the Shoreline girls with an all-around score of 34.3;, followed by Lindsey Dower of Old Saybrook, 33.75; Amanda Lee, 33.475; Sarah Jenkins of Norwich, 32.525; Julia Dibella of Old Saybrook, 32.45 and Morgan Staehle of Oakdale, 31.85. There is no regional meet.

    GOLF

    Holes-in-one

    ■ Three Stonington Country Club members scored aces last month in Florida. John O’Brien had a hole-in-one at the Country Club of Naples, using a 3-wood on the 153-yard hole. Joan O’Brien, Ralph Crosby and Joan Crosby were witnesses.

    Joe Kirby used a 7-wood to ace a 131-yard hole at the Heritage Bay Golf & Country Club. Katherine Kirby, Dave Tinneman and Bobbie Tinnemen were witnesses.

    Eric Wolf had an ace on the 185-yard, eighth hole, at Doral’s Red Course. He used a No. 3 hybrid and Ivan Martine was the witness.

    ■ Paul Vandal scored a hole-in-one at Stonington Country Club April 24, using a 4-iron on the 168-yard, eighth hole. His playing partners were Scott Gavitt and Dave Parkinson.
