Hole-in-one
■ Russ Borden of Groton aced the 195-yard fourth hole at Shennecossett Golf Course Sunday, July 25. Borden used a 4-rescue club and witnesses were Bob Hartley, Jeff Kulo and Darryle McClinton.
■ Blaine Cusati recently used a nine iron to record a hole-in-one on the 13th hole at Cedar Ridge Golf Course in East Lyme. Pat Lowry was the witness.
■ Mario V. Pizzuto scored a hole-in-one on the 16th hole at Cedar Ridge Golf Course in East Lyme on July 19. He used a three wood on the 215-yard hole. Witnesses were Joey Pizzuto, Jamie Pizzuto and Nick Coutu.

Gymnastics
Oxford — Following are Shoreline Gymnastics results from the Nutmeg State Games on July 25:
Level 8 — Julianna Alvord (Ivoryton) won gold medals in vault (8.6), bars (9.3), beam (9.2), floor (9.4) and all-around (36.5).
Level 7 — Morgan Staehle (Oakdale) won silver on vault (9.1), bronze on bars (8.75), gold on beam (9.35) and gold in all-around (36.0); Kyle McCarthy (Old Lyme) won gold in vault (9.5) and bars (9.15) and bronze on floor (9.0) and all-around (35.75); Katie Seegert (Old Saybrook) won silver on bars (8.55) and floor (9.2) and bronze on beam (8.5) and all-around (35.25).
Level 6 — Tehya Cerase (Westbrook) won gold on vault (9.65), floor (9.4) and all-around (36.45).

New Britain — Ex-Norwich Free Academy athletes Jess Banning and Kaylan Pickford tied for first in the women’s ages 15-18 pole vault on Aug. 1. Both cleared 10 feet, 6 inches.

Jessica Hespeler (Ledyard) — 200 butterfly A final (8th, 2:34.01); 100 fly C final (17th, 1:07.26, made sectional cut); 100 freestyle A final (7th, 1:01.80); 200 free A final (2nd, 2:07.26, made sectional cut); 400 free final (1st, 4:30.06, made sectional cut); 1,500 free timed final (1st, 17:50.90, made sectional cut).
Results from the Connecticut Age Group Championships:
Girls’ 13-14 — Meredith Hird (Waterford): 100-meter breaststroke (25th, 1:26.1).
Girls’ 11-12 — Asia Langley (Waterford): 50 freestyle (2nd, 28.84); 100 free (1st, 1:02.04); 100 backstroke (1st, 1:11.81); 200 back (2nd, 2:37.12); 50 butterfly (2nd, 31.20); 100 fly (1st, 1:07.75).
Note: Langley qualified for the Connecticut ZONE (all-star) team in all six events.
