New London ― Hundreds of family members and supporters gathered Wednesday to watch the newest class of U.S. Coast Guard Academy cadets become junior officers.
This year’s graduating class consists of 220 cadets, including several international students and 13 Connecticut residents, all who completed an intensive 200-week course of study that culminated with Wednesday’s ceremony.
The Academy’s 143rd commencement featured Secretary of Homeland Security Alejandro Mayorkas as the keynote speaker for the second year in a row.
