    Victim of I-395 crash still in critical condition

    Montville - A man who was seriously injured late Sunday night when the vehicle he was in rolled over several times before it crashed into a center median on Interstate 395 north just prior to exit 79 remains in critical condition Tuesday at Hartford Hospital.

    Davinder Singh, 46, of Bakersfield, Calif., was one of four people in the car. Police said he was in the front passenger seat. He was taken by Life Star helicopter to Hartford Hospital.

    Another man in the sport utility vehicle, 26-year-old Gurpreet Singh, died at the scene. He was seated in the back right passenger seat. An address for Singh was not available.

    The Office of the Chief Medical Examiner said today that Singh died of multiple blunt traumatic injuries and ruled his death an accident.

    Police said the sport utility vehicle driven by Jaswinder Singh, 34, of Jamaica, N.Y., was traveling in the left lane around 11:45 p.m. when the he lost control. The vehicle rolled several times and struck the metal-beam guardrail in the center median. The car came to a rest on top of the guardrail.

    Police said Vishal Puri, 29, of Floral Park, N.Y., was also in the car. He was seated in the back left passenger seat.

    Puri was treated and released from The William W. Backus Hospital while Jaswinder Singh was released Monday from the hospital.

    The accident remains under investigation.
