New London police ID motorcyclist killed in crash

New London - Police identified the motorcyclist killed in Monday afternoon's accident as Edward Mercure of Waterford.
Mercure, 53, was riding his Harley-Davidson Road King motorcycle on Howard Street when he collided with a Mazda Protégé and was thrown from his bike. Mercure was pronounced dead at Lawrence & Memorial Hospital.
Police have not identified the driver of the sedan. The investigation is ongoing and no charges have been filed.
Police are asking anyone with information to call the New London police department shift commander at (860) 447-5281 to leave a message for the accident reconstructionist assigned to the case.
