Stonington - A 51-year-old Waterford man who died late Monday afternoon after he fell off his jet ski while riding off Sandy Point died of a medical condition, the state Department of Environmental Protection confirmed Tuesday.

The man, Matthew Hightower, was picked up by a passing boat about 4:45 p.m. and brought to the Barn Island boat launch. He fell unconscious and was pronounced dead at the launch.

The state Department of Environmental Protection is investigating the death.
