New London - A pedestrian who was struck by a vehicle on Montauk Avenue near Mitchell College Friday night was in critical condition at Yale-New Haven Hospital Saturday, police said.

Emergency personnel responded to 626 Montauk Ave. about 10:30 p.m. and found the pedestrian lying in the street with visible injuries to the head and leg.

The pedestrian was taken to Lawrence & Memorial Hospital, then flown to Yale-New Haven via Life Star helicopter.

Police said they are not releasing the name of the pedestrian. The person was still at Yale-New Haven Hospital in critical but stable condition Saturday, they said. Police said the driver of the vehicle remained on the scene and was cooperative with investigators.
