    2 Hartford men arrested on drug charges near Thames River Academy

    Norwich – Police this afternoon seized almost an ounce of crack cocaine during the arrest of two Hartford men near Thames River Academy.

    Police charged Antwan Haugabook, 33, and Alexander Barber Jr., 30, with possession of crack cocaine and possession of crack cocaine with the intent to sell within 1,500 feet of a school. Barber also faces charges of possession of marijuana and interfering with an officer.

    Police said the men are known drug dealers from Hartford that were supplying several Norwich-area users with drugs Monday afternoon. After an investigation, police arrested the men on Hamilton Avenue, near the public high school Thames River Academy. Police seized crack cocaine packaged for street level sales, a small amount of marijuana and more than $1,300.

    Haugabook is held on $100,000 bond while police said Barber is held on $150,000 bond. Both men are scheduled to appear in Norwich Superior Court on Tuesday.
