Norwich police arrest Bridgeport man after a brief car chase

Norwich — A wanted man from Bridgeport was arrested early this morning after he led Norwich police on a brief car chase on Route 12.

Noel A. McIntosh, 27, was charged with driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs, engaging police in pursuit, failure to illuminate headlights, reckless driving, driving under suspension, driving an unregistered motor vehicle, driving the wrong way on a one way and failure to wear a seat belt.

Norwich Officer Melinda Stone saw a car without its headlights on at about 1:38 a.m. and attempted to stop the vehicle.

Police said the driver, later identified as McIntosh, refused to pull over and continued onto Route 12 north. Officers pursued the vehicle into Lisbon. State police used "stop sticks" to deflate the tires and stop the vehicle.

McIntosh was subsequently arrested. Police said the entire incident lasted about seven minutes.

Police said McIntosh is wanted in Waterbury for failure to appear in court on numerous motor vehicle charges.

He is being held on a $25,000 bond, pending his arraignment today in Norwich Superior Court.
