Norwich police arrest suspect after car chase

Norwich – A local man was arrested Friday night after he allegedly led police on a motor vehicle pursuit that ended in neighboring Preston.

Roland A. Euell, 19, of 33 Providence St. was charged with third-degree larceny, engaging an officer in pursuit, reckless driving, disobeying an officer's signal and driving with a suspended license. He was held on a $50,000 cash bond.

Police said the incident started with a report of a stolen vehicle at 7 p.m. Officer Sean Sullivan observed the vehicle traveling in the Greeneville section of the city at 7:14 p.m., attempted to stop the vehicle, but the operator refused to stop and engaged Norwich police in pursuit.

The pursuit crossed into Preston onto Route 165 and the state police were advised. The vehicle was subsequently stopped by Norwich police officers in Preston.

Police said Euell and the vehicle owner know each other.
