Taftville home raided, two arrested on drug charges

Norwich – Police arrested two people, including a 17-year-old girl, following a Wednesday afternoon raid of a Taftville residence that came after a five-month investigation into drug dealing in and around the home.

Police charged Jason P. Brulotte, 33, of 56½ South B St., and the 17-year-old juvenile each with possession of heroin, possession of heroin with intent to sell, possession of heroin within 1,500 feet of a school, and possession of drug paraphernalia. Police also charged the girl with first-degree failure to appear in court, which stemmed from an earlier drug arrest.

Police said they arrested the girl after she exited the home around 4:30 p.m. Wednesday with 40 bags of heroin. Police then searched the home and found 20 more bags of heroin, assorted needles and more than $400 in cash.

Police said the investigation and subsequent arrests came after numerous citizen complaints were made to the police department, including messages left on the anonymous tip line and made in person to Officer Michael McKinney.

Brulotte was held in lieu of a $25,000 bond and is scheduled to appear Thursday in Norwich Superior Court. The juvenile was held in lieu of a $5,000 bond; she is scheduled to appear Thursday in Norwich Superior Court and in Waterford Juvenile Court on Sept. 14.

Police encourage anyone with information about narcotic or criminal activity in Norwich to call the Norwich Police Department at (860) 886-5561, the anonymous tip line at (860) 886-5561 ext. 500 or email crimetips@cityofnorwich.org.
