    Two officers assaulted as siblings fight

    New London — A fight between siblings late Monday night led to the assault of two police officers who were attempting to arrest one of them.

    Police said at 11:14 p.m. they responded to 224 Vauxhall St. for a report of a fight between siblings.

    Police said they found Keith Barnum, 34, and Kerry Barnum, 32, both of 224 Vauxhall St., bleeding from injuries sustained from the fight.

    While police were attempting to arrest Keith Barnum, he spit at and hit an officer in the face and then kicked a second officer, police said.

    Kerry Barnum was taken into custody without incident. Both were treated at a local hospital for minor injures.

    Keith Barnum was charged with two counts of assault on a police officer, threatening, third-degree assault, disorderly conduct and interfering with police.

    Kerry Barnum was charged with third-degree assault and disorderly conduct.
